Harvey Bear!

What a beautiful morning in San Martin!

Harvey Bear Park in San Martin is the perfect place for a morning (or any time of the day) walk. Three time a week (well, mostly) Nadien, Mario and I meet for a morning walk around the two mile loop. Sometimes we are lucky enough to have Debbie and Owen join us. Sometimes we run into people we know. But mostly we get to take in the very crisp morning air, see the baby calves eating grass, wish a good morning to those passing by, sip our Starbucks, and maybe break a little sweat, or glow, as I like to call it.

This morning was business as usual EXCEPT for one major distraction. The "workers" were there to fix the road. Thank GOD! The road is horrible, it has HUGE potholes and cannot be good for anyone's car. Mario was excited to see all the tractors in action, made it through the whole walk without falling asleep.

When the alarm goes off at 7:20AM (yes, I know for some of you this is sleeping in) I grunt at the clock as I roll out of bed and think, maybe Nadien doesn't REALLY want to walk today. But once I get to San Martin and we start walking, it is really the BEST start to my day!

P.S. Embrace the double chin...lol

Story People

There are things you do because they feel right & they may make no sense & they may make no money & it may be the real reason we are here: to love each other & to eat each other's cooking & say it was good.

To Good Times and Good Friends!

This weekend, yet again, I had another reason to be thankful for the great family & friends that I have!

Saturday, I got to spend the whole day with some of my favorite people. The Stewarts, Avilas, Nores’ and Beiers went wine tasting in Morgan Hill. We ate a FANTASTIC picnic lunch at Jason-Stephens Winery. Keith loved it so much he bought a whole case of wine. (Party at the Beier’s! WHOO HOO) we wrapped up the day with two little buddies joining us for a relaxing dinner!

Sunday, Melissa, Janel and I spent the first half of the day at Burke Williams, my favorite place because they have a quiet room where you can nap. We hurried around Santa Row, in the rain, to finally decide on eating at Sino, it was goooooood. I highly recommend the spicy prawns with cashews DELICIOUS. We skipped dessert because I NEEDED to go to Pinkberry, the new frozen yogurt place.

As we meandered out of Sino we notice the line at Pinkberry was very, very long. Janel and Melissa did not seem very excited about this… (To their defense, they had not been awaiting the opening of this grand yogurt experience as Alyssa, Maryanne, Jen and I had). To top it off, a girl walks by and said “Pinkberry is such a rip off they charge you so much money for a tiny cup” – Janel thinks this is a sign and we just should not go. Melissa and Janel wanted to go to Kara’s Cupcakes and check what treats they had to offer. Kara’s is good, especially the VERY VANILLA! But, I just could not leave without my yogurt.

I waited in line at Pinkberry while Melissa and Janel headed off for cupcakes. As, I waited in the cold, damp line I started have a feeling that maybe this was not going to be the bliss I had long awaited. I got my original yogurt with raspberries and almonds. I was good, I would get it again. But, so far, nothing has beaten my SWEET RETREAT! Thanks Melissa & Janel for a fun birthday celebration!

MMMMM OIL

Lots of people head to "wine country" to do a little wine tasting, maybe pack a cheese and cracker picnic and enjoy the beauty of the land. Not the Silva family! We planned a good old fashioned family vacation to Napa/Sonoma. Instead of following the crowd, we paved our own way through the towns of the central coast.

Our first stop was at the The Olive Press (www.theolivepress.com) in Sonoma where we did a little olive oil tasting. This was fun and super YUMMY! I picked up the two bottles above, as well as some kalamata olive spread. Their basil walnut dipping oil is so good I will order more online when this bottle runs out.

We headed to dinner, a place close to my parent's hearts, a resturant in sonoma that serves Portuguese cuisine. (http://www.lasalette-restaurant.com/index.html) The food was excellent!
We headed to our hotel and settled in for the night.

Saturday, we headed to a few wineries, not to wine taste, but to play in their gift shops, pose for many photo ops and eat their snacks. We finished our day at River Rock Casino! Whoo Hoo! I lost $100 paying the $.25 Wheel of Fortune slot machine. But it was worth it!
Now that's what I call good old fashioned family fun!

Let the baby making begin...

As some of you know, Keith and I are in phase 1 of my "infertility" journey. I starting seeing a new doctor, Dr. Michael Contro (shameless plug) and he is awesome! I love him!

I am nervous and excited. Today I have received my first regimen of baby making "magic". It takes a lot of drugs, blood tests and doctors appointments to make 1 bundle of love( or maybe 2+). (My chances of having twins has increased from 1 in 250 to 1 in 10.)

Keith was very enthusiastic today and shared this link with me: http://jenapincott.wordpress.com/2009/01/08/semen-has-mind-control-properties/

So, sorry boys, Keith is my one and only!
I will keep you all updated...send good baby vibes my way!

Inspired!

Yay for 2009!
I have been inspired to start my own blog. Everyday the list of friends who have blogs grows, and I want to be a part of the fun. So, here goes. Hopefully, I will have funny, witty, interesting things to share with you. If not, you can at least get updated on what going on in my life. (And, I can stop harassing Alyssa about why she has not posted a new blog.)
